ITINERANT EXHIBITION

“SURVIVAL WOMEN”

This exhibition arises from women’s and women’s project, developed and matured by resilient women who are no longer victims, proxy women who have decided to break silence, women survivors of relationships of sexist violence. This exhibition project includes a compilation of elements that allow these women to express themselves freely in the world that surrounds them.

It is the result of the participation of 12 very diverse women, all of them survivors of sexist violence, who offer symbolic photographs of their strength and resilience, accompanied by a personal writing showing their tools and stories of recovery and overcoming.

We wholeheartedly appreciate the collaboration of each woman, the tenderness, the strength and courage that each one has contributed. The desire to make visible the personal struggle and to share it, the feeling of solidarity and the desire to continue fighting so that no other woman has to find in this process, are the energies that have made this project possible.

We think of this exhibition with three essential purposes:

  • Empowered women raise their voices, break silence and show their empowerment process
  • That potential victims may be reflected in some of the story(ies)  and that impact them sufficiently to be able to escape the destructive process of violence
  • That citizenship is sensitized in this scourge, that breaks stereotypes preconceived and that change the look of victims to survivors

To facilitate access to this exhibition, we started facilitating it to Primary Care Centers and community spaces in Barcelona. At the moment it is available to the Catalan Women’s Institute that can be spread throughout Catalonia.
